Senator Pat Wiggins November Report

Senate District 2 Senator Pat Wiggins Legislative Report :
Sunol Westergren November 6th, 2008 Lake County Democratic Central Committee

Wanda Our Winner
I am delighted to report that Wanda Harris was nominated
and won the Women in the Wine Country-Politics 2008 award ,
given to outstanding women in the district by Pat Wiggins,
State Senator CA District 2. A benefit will be held this Saturday,
November 8th, at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Center, 5007 Fulton Road,
Fulton 4:30-6:30pm, honoring a total of five women this year.

Better Late than Never Governor Schwarzenegger finally signed
SB 634 regarding the olive oil industry. Accordingly, the consumers
will be better informed and the export of Californian oil will be aided.
The governor also signed SB1016, shifting the focus for solid waste to
further facilitate actual waste reduction.

Legislature Leader
Pat Wiggins had 17 bills passed this year,
up from eleven last year. She also co-authored other bills not included
in the tally. She also had seven bill vetoed; her success rate is highly
exceptional, considering the governor’s record rejection rate of 35 percent.

Sierra’dippities
The Sierra Club California has given a perfect score to our
Senator for her votes on the organization’s targeted bills on the floor of the
senate. She also introduced a number of environmental bills that were signed
into law. Subjects included range from coastal salmon, to state parks and
landfills.
